37th Annual Lometa Diamond Back Jubilee 2007

31 March 2007

We arrived at the gate to the city park and were greeted with someone handing out a schedule rather than the usual money grab. We were shown where to park (no charge) entered the event no cost. The cost was paid for by the lions club for the past 27 years. Fort Hood was to bring in the 1st cav riders but weather caused cancellation. A black hawk uh60 was at the event until 1600 hours. The 4th ID 6 man played between other live bands. Plenty of inexpensive friendly venders, good live music with a RV park next door for $15 with elec and H2O and dump station. A carnival with 70 vintage rides lots of rattle snakes, chili cook off and the highlight was a cow plop bingo game with a $1700 prize. And lets not forget the goat pellet flipping contest which I am proud to have come in in 5th place at 580 inches and won a cd, hat, T-shirt and shot glass. Over all it was a nice well planned small town event.
