Date: 4 July, 2016
Location: Cedar Park, Texas
Event: Independence Day Parade
For a variety of reasons, of the six scheduled vehicles originally assigned to this parade, only two made it (three if you count the trailer). Twenty to forty year old military trucks can be cantankerous sometimes.
Domingo M made it part way there, but wisely turned back because of brake issues. Along with Jane were David C and Caitlin C, both of whom showed up even though their vehicles refused to! Mitch C drove Rory’s M1009 with M116A3 HSTRU trailer; and Rory C drove his M931A2 5-ton tractor.
We had more than enough flags for six vehicles, so ours ended up running with three each. We are all big believers in lots of flags!
The threatened rain failed to show, so the parade went off without a hitch, with a huge and patriotic crowd in attendance. The skies were even turning to blue by the time the parade actually started.
