Leander, Texas
Members participating: Barry F with his Harley Servicar and display; Rory C, David C, Patrick C (home on leave from the Marines), with the M1009/M116A3 HSTRU trailer, and M931A2 tractor; Scott P with his M35A2; and Clint and Ciara D.
This event was a commemoration of 50 years since the US became officially involved in the Vietnam war, and was also a fund raiser for the Leander Veterans Park.
Our vehicles were placed as the backdrop for the speakers at the event. The weather was pretty cooperative, in the high 50’s and dry. Barry gave lessons on how to look comfortable, and this was one of the few events that we didn’t get a picture of Scott snoozing!
Many old veterans came and looked at the vehicles, including one couple who met while both serving in an Army motorpool many years ago.
Other than the rather small portions served at the barbeque, which was nevertheless very good, the day went well. Almost $14,000 was raised for the Veterans Park.
