Event: Smithville Memorial Day Ceremony, 10th Year Anniversary

This is an annual event to honor the fallen members of all services and especially those of Bastrop County. This year also had the unveiling of a new memorial, the Battlefield Cross statue. Both Madison and Jim showed up in drag uniforms with web gear and M1 Carbines. We were honor guards for the event posting on either side of the podium during the posting of the National colors, Services branch colors, the POW colors and the laying of the wreath. They recognized our advancing ages and allowed us to sit behind the podium during the reading of names of the Bastrop County members of WW I, WWII, Korea, Vietnam, Gulf War and the Afghanistan wars. It was an honor to be a part of this annual memorial event again.
