Terrytown 4th of July Parade 2012

4 July 2012
LOCATION: Austin TX

The Tarrytown July 4th Parade was held on July 4th, 2012. Six vehicles met at Camp Mabry and convoyed to the Good Shepherd Episcopal Church on Windsor Road. Tim Weitz, Les Davis, Jeff McDonald, Fred Harvey and Jeff Hunt all had their Jeeps at the parade. There were about twelve members of G Company in World War II attire that also participated and the TX Military Forces Museum also took the recently restored 1943 Ford fire truck to the parade. Once at Good Shepherd, Herb Tate met up with the group. Also in attendance were two military vehicles from the Texas Army National Guard and the Texas Maritime Regiment of the State Guard provided the color guard. The parade started with a fantastic rendition of the National Anthem and the actual parade kicked off at 0915. The route was approximately 1 mile long and ended at Reed Park. There were several hundred people at the parade and everyone was extremely pleased to have Camp Mabry and the MVPA participating. Feedback was very positive and many people commented on how great it was to have Camp Mabry, the MVPA, Maritime Regiment and all of G Company together and participating. Following the parade, the convoy traveled back to Camp Mabry.

Thanks,
Les
