Veterans Day Parade 2018

11 November 2018
EVENT: Veterans Day Parade
LOCATION: Austin, TX

Sunday 11 Nov. was the day Austin celebrated by honoring it’s Veterans with a parade up Congress Ave. followed by a ceremony at the State Capital recognizing the 100th anniversary of the signing of the Armistice ending World War I.

The LSMVPA was there in force to do our part of not only representing and honoring our own Veterans but also providing transportation for Veterans who otherwise wouldn’t be in the parade. Also this year we were carrying members of four different Veteran’s support groups. That included The Travis County Veteran’s Service Office, The Texas Veterans Commission, TexVet and The Mission Continues.

We fielded about 15 vehicles this year which is a little less than our usual contingent but a special thanks to our “big truck guys”, there was plenty of room for everyone. Looking back at pictures of when I first joined some 20 years ago, our lineup was almost all jeeps with one XM 211 deuce and Maddawg soon followed with his M37. Yesterday our lineup had 2 jeeps in it. Times have changed.

Thanks to everyone for taking the time and making the effort to make LSMVPA the best chapter in the area.
