Central Texas Airshow

True to form, the Temple Air Show was one day of rain and one day of no rain. The only good part this year was the rain came during the night!
Club members began arriving mid-day on Friday. After getting the vehicles into place we settled in to watch some late afternoon flying and the after dark fireworks and pyrotechnics.
The next morning we found our two EZ-Up canopies had been knocked down and significantly damaged. We repaired what we could and gathered our items that had blown around, then got ready for the Saturday show.
Barry was there with his Harley-Davidson Servi-Car and tent setup, Danny had his M37, Jeff McD showed up with his MB, John K with his MB, I had the M38A1 and the big trucks included Jeff L and the Unimog, Rory C and his son Patrick with the 5-ton and John SS with his M35A2 and trailer combo. John had a difficult time getting in through the mud, but with the help of a Volvo bucket loader/tractor, found a perfect parking spot.
About noon Scott fired up the bbq pit and cooked the famous “Jeep Burgers” for the club members. The Plane-Girls made their way back to us and graced us with their beauty and wit. The show went off without a hitch with all the planes staying in the air. Afterwards, the crowds thinned and we secured our gear the the night and headed back into town.
Sunday was an abbreviated version for most of us. Scott served bear claws and OJ to the group and Jeep Burgers for lunch. About 1:30pm, Scott had cleaned the pit and loaded everything on the trailer. It was about 2pm when most of us had left headed back to Austin.
Overall, the show is fun and the friendships considerably better. The Plane-Girls make it interesting and the rain keeps us on our toes.
